> WHAT WE STAND FOR
The German Aerospace Industries Association (Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V. – BDLI), with more than 190 members, represents the interests of an industrial sector which, thanks to international technology leadership and worldwide export success, has become a significant economic growth factor in Germany. The German aerospace industry combines almost all strategic key technologies and achieves an annual turnover of currently 23.6 billion euros with its work force of more than 93,000 employees.
Our mission: to be the voice of the sector.
> HOW WE WORK
We represent all segments and company sizes in the German aerospace industry. Our fields of work are divided into four manufacturing groups: “Aviation and Aerospace Systems”, “Engines”, “Equipment” and “Material Technologies and Components”. The Executive Board, the ruling body of the BDLI, is made up of representatives from all four groups. This ensures that all of the association's main activities are managed with the interests of all member companies in mind.
There are more than 40 working groups in which BDLI member companies deal with the current topics in our industry. We create numerous possibilities for dialogue with political institutions, authorities, associations and foreign representatives in Germany. The ILA Berlin Air Show provides us with our own international platform and exhibition which is among the most important industry trade fairs in the world. To supplement this, we offer our members a range of comprehensive services in the form of appearances and participation in various trade fairs in Germany and abroad.
We are officially accredited by the Bundestag, the German Parliament. The legal functions that we fulfil there include hearings as part of the preparation for new laws, and collaboration in specialist ministry councils and committees as well as hearings in the German Bundestag.
Our association is a member of the most important national representation of all industrial associations – the Federation of German Industries (BDI).
At EU policy level, we are represented through our membership in the European umbrella organisation, the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD).
