| Products and Services: Established in 1992, the Franco-German-Spanish Eurocopter Group is a Division of EADS, a world leader in aerospace, defence and related services. The Eurocopter Group, consisting of entities in Germany, France and Spain, employs approx. 15 600 people. The Group has manufacturing sites in each of its “home countries”, three in Germany (Donauwörth, Ottobrunn and Kassel), two in France (Marignane and La Courneuve) and two in Spain (Albacete and Cuatro Vientos). Dr. Lutz Bertling is the President and CEO of the Eurocopter Group. In 2008, Eurocopter confirmed its position as the world’s number-one helicopter manufacturer in the civil and parapublic market, with sales of €4.5 billion, orders for 715 new helicopters, and a 53-percent market share in the civil and parapublic sectors. Overall, the Group’s products account for 30 percent of the total world helicopter fleet. Its strong worldwide presence is ensured by its 18 subsidiaries on five continents, along with a dense network of distributors, certified agents and maintenance centres. More than 10 000 Eurocopter helicopters are currently in service with over 2 800 customers in more than 140 countries. Eurocopter offers the largest civil and military helicopter range in the world. |
| Research and Technology Development Priorities: R&T strategy and innovation Eurocopter employs 1 500 design engineers to drive the Group’s R&T strategy. By making substantial, targeted investments in the development of new products and enhancement of the existing product range, Eurocopter aims to remain competitive and assure its future as the world’s leading helicopter manufacturer in the civil and parapublic sectors, where it holds a 53-percent market share. Environmental protection It is one of Eurocopter’s principal objectives to ensure the environmental compatibility of its products throughout their lifecycle, from the design stage to end-oflife recycling. The company’s environmental management system is certified to ISO 14001 and also complies with the requirements of the EU’s new REACH directive on the registration, evaluation and authorisation of chemicals. Eurocopter is a member of the Clean Sky technology initiative. |
