Products and Services:
The HOFMANN Innovation Group AG is an EN 9100- certified partner to the aerospace industry for injection moulded plastic assemblies. With approx. 500 employees around the world, the company provides the following services:

Design and engineering of components and tools. Catia V4 / V5; Unigraphics.

Rapid Prototyping. From single components to fullscale cabin mock-ups; stereolithography; plastic laser sintering; polyurethane and polyamide parts from silicone moulds; aluminium investment castings; LaserCUSING®; gauge making

Tooling. Aluminium tools; steel tools; injection moulding of hollow components; multicomponent injection moulding; film insert moulding; water and gas injection processes; Variotherm® process for producing extremely thin-walled components from aviation industry- approved plastics

Component production. Production on injection moulding machines with a clamping force of up to 1600 t.

Assembly. Assembly; varnishing; plastics welding; printing, laser marking, etc.

Founded in 1958, the Group‘s size and network of affiliations enable it to carry out complex projects within short timeframes. Thanks to its ongoing investment in research and development, the company is able to offer innovative solutions at competitive prices. The new LaserCUSING® process developed by the HOFMANN Innovation Group, for example, is the first process to allow layer-by-layer construction of complex structures from almost all metallic materials. This enables rapid and cost-efficient development of functional metal components (e.g. aluminium, titanium or Inconel).

Research and Technology Development Priorities:
  • Enhanced developments in the manufacture of extremely thin-walled components from aviation industry-approved plastics (e.g. PEI) using the Variotherm® technique
  • Replacing metal components with plastic components for aviation applications
  • Manufacture of highly integrated plastic components (e.g. multicomponent injection moulding, injection moulding of hollow components, etc.) with the aim of eliminating costly adhesive bonding and assembly steps
  • Continued development of the LaserCUSING® technology to include permanent monitoring of the construction process; rapid manufacturing methods can then be used to produce components even more efficiently.
