| Products and Services: Airbus is a market and technology leader in passenger aircraft, having established a top position in the aircraft industry through its comprehensive and modern range of products. Germany, France, Great Britain and Spain are all involved in developing and manufacturing Airbus aircraft. Airbus in Germany employs around 17 000 people at four development and manufacturing sites. Bremen is the centre for high-lift systems and wing assembly and is responsible for structural development and equipment assembly for the A400M military transport aircraft. Stade manufactures the vertical tail planes for all Airbus aircraft in addition to wing shells from lightweight composite material CFRP (carbon fibre reinforced plastic). Buxtehude produces electronic communications and cabin management systems for the entire Airbus fleet. Cabin development takes place in Hamburg, which is also the main site of fuselage assembly and final assembly. Complete fuselage sections are equipped with all essential flight systems. This site also includes the headquarters of Airbus management in Germany. Hamburg‘s final assembly line is responsible for final assembly of the of A320 twinjet aircraft family (A318, A319, A320 and A321) and for delivering the aircraft to customers all over the world. Airbus in Germany also has a key role to play in developing and producing the new A380, with fully equipped fuselage sections being supplied to the A380 final assembly line in Toulouse. Cabin definition, equipping and painting for the flagship of the Airbus fleet takes place in Germany, which is also responsible for delivering this aircraft to customers in Europe and the Middle East. For the A350 XWB, Airbus sites in Germany are responsible for developing and producing the front and rear fuselage sections, cabin and cabin systems, vertical tail plane and upper wing shell, as well as for the high-lift system and for equipping the wing. |
