RUAG is a multinational aerospace and defence technology group. The holding company‘s headquarters are based in Bern (CH). The company has production centres in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Hungary and the USA and employs around 7 000 staff.

RUAG Aviation with headquarters in Emmen (CH) is a leading supplier and integrator of systems and components for civil and military aerospace. The German RUAG companies at its Oberpfaffenhofen location near Munich have become an indispensable part of the German aerospace industry.

RUAG Aerospace Services has been certified in a host of countries as an approved maintenance, production and design organisation in the civil and military segments. The service portfolio covers the entire range of aircraft maintenance, overhaul, outfitting, painting, refurbishment and development activities, as well as avionics upgrades in the context of modernisation programmes and customised, special-purpose equipment. In October 2007, the RUAG Board of Directors took the decision to resume production of the Do 228 under the name Do 228 NG (New Generation). The aircraft is currently being built as a 19-seater, fitted with state-of-the-art avionics, a glass cockpit as well as a new five-blade propeller. Two years after the “go-ahead” and successful ground tests, the flight-testing phase for the prototype platform is now underway.

RUAG Aerospace Structures boasts development expertise and state-of-the-art production techniques in the manufacture of aircraft structural components. The company can look back on a 29-year partnership with Airbus Deutschland and ranks among the leading single source suppliers in terms of revenue. The production portfolio includes various fuselage structures in the single aisle (A320 family), widebody (A300/310) and long range (A330) programmes. In 2008, the partnership with airframer Bombardier was extended, with the company assuming end-to-end global supply chain responsibility for series production of the aft fuselage sections for Bombardier’s CRJ regional jet family. The contract includes the production of parts and assemblies as well as the final assembly of the aircraft‘s aft fuselage section.
